Recognized as one of the four sacred months in the Quran, Muharram offers a unique opportunity for Muslims around the world to reflect on the lessons of history.
Muharram: A Sacred Time
Allah has designated Muharram as one of the sacred months, a time when warfare and violence are forbidden. Allah says in the Quran:Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred... (Quran 9:36).This designation underscores a period of peace and contemplation, where acts of aggression are strictly forbidden. The sanctity of Muharram serves as a reminder for Muslims to practise patience and piety, focusing on personal growth and enlightenment.
