Islamic Studies & Arabic diploma
HOURS A LESSON
This unique diploma course introduces the students to the traditional Islamic Studies of Hadith, Fiqh, Tahweed and Tafsir, as taught at the Islamic University of Madinah. It is the classical methodology of study as taught by the scholars of Islam for generations in a modern setting.
It will also combine between all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking in the Arabic Language.
There will be a special emphasis on learning terminology and basic Arabic words and phrases throughout the course. By the end of the course students should have an overview of the traditional islamic sciences and be ready to study more in depth topics or complete the Arabic & Islamic Studies certificate course which will run for 2 academic years. Students are expected to complete about 1-2 hours of self-study daily in addition to classroom hours.

Who is the course for?
This diploma course is for Intermediate Learners who are capable of reading Arabic and understanding some terminologies. It is also for students who are interested in developing reading, writing and comprehension skills based on grammatical principles. It offers the student the opportunity to develop high frequency vocabulary from a variety of topics and themes.
For beginners who are not familiar with reading Arabic and want to start from the complete beginning, we recommend the foundation course for 1 year.
Revealed Texts: This module introduces students to a selection of verses and hadith for close reading and analytic study of the language and style. Students will be expected to memorise the selection as well as understand the tafsir.
Hadith: Prophetic Traditions, covers an introduction to the historical development and compilation of Hadith, followed by a study of selected Hadith in legal rulings from Bulugh al-Maram of ibn Hajar al-asqalani.
Seerah: A detailed look at the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from Pre-Islam Arabia, the beginning of revelation, propagation in Makkah, migration to Madinah and the final sermon of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Emaan & Tawheed: Study an in-depth meaning of Tawheed, worship and Aqidah (Belief) as well as common practices of Shirk that nullify tawheed or decrease its reward.
Fiqh: Islamic Jurisprudence, covers an introduction to the principles of Fiqh, its historical development and a study of selected and the most common issues related to ritual worship from purification to Hajj.
Arabic course is based on the renowned Madinah Book series authored by V. AbdurRaheem and taught in the Islamic University of Madinah. Students cover applied grammar in practice with comprehension, reading and writing activities. There is a reading and comprehension, diction and communication modules. Students develop a full grasp of the Arabic language.
