Welcome to the Advanced Islamic Studies Program, an enriching academic experience designed to deepen your understanding of the Islamic tradition through an array of specialized courses. Inspired by and condensed from the prestigious curriculum and syllabus of the College of Sharia at the Islamic University of Madinah, this comprehensive program offers students a profound and diverse exploration of Islamic knowledge, ensuring a well-rounded education in both classical and contemporary Islamic studies.

Our program covers a broad spectrum of essential fields, providing students with an in-depth study of the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic theology, history, and more. Each academic year, students will engage with two to three carefully selected subjects, guaranteeing a focused and thorough learning experience.

Learning Path

Qur’an Tafsir (Exegesis)

This comprehensive course on Tafsir (Exegesis) is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the Noble Qur’an. The curriculum begins with an introduction to the types of Tafsir, including thematic exegesis, exemplified by the study of “Al-Munafiqun” (The Hypocrites). Students will then delve into the Tafsir of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a detailed interpretation of Surah Al-Baqarah up to the end of verse 252.

Throughout the course, students will explore the Qur’an’s profound wisdom, ethical teachings, and practical rulings, equipping them with the ability to teach and apply its principles effectively.

By the end of this course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of key Surahs, learn noble methods of persuasion and research, and build a strong foundation in the true vision of Islam as conveyed through the Noble Qur’an.

 Biography of the Prophet (Sirat Al-Nabi)

This course offers a detailed exploration of the life of the Biography of the Prophet emphasizing the profound impact of his message on humanity.  Students will learn about the Prophet’s lineage, his early life in Mecca, and his significant actions before his mission, including his secret and public calls to Islam, the migration to Abyssinia, and key events like the boycott and the Night Journey (Isra and Mi’raj), the Prophet’s migration to Medina, the critical developments in the early Muslim community, the establishment of the mosque, and the constitution of Medina. Students will also study the major battles and treaties, such as the Battle of Badr and the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, leading to the conquest of Mecca. The course concludes with an overview of his Farewell Pilgrimage and his passing, encapsulating his enduring legacy.

By engaging with this comprehensive curriculum, students will gain a deep understanding of the Prophet’s life, his strategies in spreading the message of Islam, and his role in shaping the early Muslim community. This course aims to provide students with both historical insights and practical lessons from the Prophet’s life.

Modules to be taught in the following years:

Hadith: Engage in the study of the sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , understanding their significance, transmission, and application in Islamic law and life.

Hadith Studies: Dive deep into the science of Hadith, analyzing the compilation, classification, and critical evaluation of Hadith literature to understand its authenticity and reliability.

Aqeedah (Islamic Theology): Study the core beliefs of Islam, focusing on the foundational theological principles that define the Muslim faith and differentiate it from other belief systems.

Tawhid (Monotheism): Delve into the concept of Tawhid, the oneness of Allah, exploring its implications on Islamic theology, worship, and daily life.

Religions and Sects: Analyze various religions and Islamic sects, understanding their beliefs, historical development, and the distinctions between orthodox Islam and other religious or sectarian perspectives.

History of Islam: Trace the historical development of the Islamic civilization, from its inception to the present day, examining key events, figures, and movements that have shaped the Muslim world.

Principles and Methods of Da’wah: Study the principles and methods of Islamic missionary work, learning effective strategies for spreading the message of Islam and engaging with diverse audiences.

Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence): Gain a comprehensive understanding of Islamic legal theory and practice, studying various schools of thought and their approaches to deriving legal rulings.

Inheritance Laws: Learn the intricate laws of inheritance in Islam, focusing on the distribution of estate and wealth according to Sharia principles.

Usul al-Fiqh (Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence): Study the fundamental principles and methodologies used in Islamic jurisprudence for deriving legal rulings from primary sources.

Legal Maxims: Explore the general legal principles (Qawa’id Fiqhiyyah) that serve as guidelines for resolving complex juristic issues in Islamic law.

Islamic Judiciary and Politics: Analyze the principles of Islamic governance and judiciary, understanding the role of justice and political theory in the administration of an Islamic state.

Grammar: Master the rules of Arabic grammar, essential for accurately understanding and interpreting classical Islamic texts.

Morphology: Study the structure and formation of words in the Arabic language, enhancing your ability to comprehend and articulate complex Islamic concepts.
