Muharram: Sacred Time and Reflection

Allah, in His infinite wisdom, has designated Muharram as one of the sacred months, a time when warfare and violence are especially forbidden. The arrival of Muharram also marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar year. This transition is not just a passage of time—it commemorates the Hijra, the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina. The 10th day of Muharram, known as Ashura, holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims. Ashura is a day of fasting, commemorating the day Allah saved Moses and the Israelites from Pharaoh’s tyranny.
